Очередной подлец , генерал Маттис, отвечает шутками на высказывание Трампа о том, что Маттис -- the world's most overrated general. So I guess I'm the Meryl Streep of generals and frankly that sounds pretty good to me. [..] I earned my spurs at the battlefield and Donald Trump [...] earned his spurs from a letter from a doctor. Но это же совершенно pathetic. Маттис сначала согласился на пост министра обороны при президенте Трампе -- ладно, возможно, тогда у него были какие-то иллюзии о том, что с Трампом можно будет работать. Но с тех пор он ушел в отставку, опубликовал книжку, рекламируя которую он ездит по стране, и все это время он отказывался критиковать Трампа. Да и сейчас -- это ж не критика никакая. И Маттис -- человек, слова которого о том, что Трамп представляет очевидную опасность для страны и мира на посту президента имели бы большое значение. Ганьба! То же самое, причем в еще большей степени, касается и бывшего госсекретаря, Тиллерсона. Трамп его публично называет "dumb as a rock", если Тиллерсону нужна дополнительная мотивация, а Тиллерсон в ответ молчит. По крайней мере, публично молчит. И что касается всех тех работников Госдепа, которые дают сейчас показания. Я рад, что они дают показания, это само по себе непросто, учитывая нынешнюю ситуацию, так что я не хочу их сравнивать с Маттисом и Тиллерсоном. Однако, если бы не whistleblower, они бы ведь продолжали молчать, и делать все то, что, по их словам сейчас , они делать очень не хотели. В крайнем случае, уходя в отставку и продолжая молчать. But a) what kind of person do they think Trump’s White House counsel is?! and b) even if Cipollone were a scrupulous man, what could he do apart from alerting Congress and/or resigning. “We’re not implicated! Kind of!” Again , confused as to what we're supposed to make of the fact that people who *didn't* blow the whistle nevertheless logged objections with Trump-aligned White House lawyers who had no desire or power to stop Trump. We were so mad that we didn't quit, and also would still be working there if we hadn't been fired, but we DID file CYA notes with the counsel's office, which doesn't do investigations or enforce laws. QED. Quiz: if there'd been no whistleblower and thus no forcing mechanism for impeachment, Hill would've a) reported this all to Congress voluntarily b) left the WH quietly and never said a word just like every other "adult" who's cycled through that crime den. There are so many crimes we don't know about, and may never uncover, unless we treat other suspicious conduct the way we've treated the Ukraine matter.
